May's Brexit deal is DERAILED by her DUP allies amid anger at dramatic
concession on Irish border that could see Northern Ireland 'stay in the EU'

The failure came after the DUP apparently signalled they could not
support concessions that would have won approval from the EU to launch
trade negotiations at a summit next week.

Mrs May broke off from her talks with Mr Juncker to call DUP leader
Arlene Foster and consult on the plans - which critics suggested would
have left Northern Ireland effectively in the single market after the
rest of the UK cut ties with Brussels.

Shortly afterwards the PM - who is only being propped up in Downing
Street by backing from the party's 10 MPs - confirmed there would be no
agreement today.

How the heck would this have worked I wonder and of course Scotland and
London (at least) would have been demanding a 'special' arrangements
too.

What we can't have, in my view, is different internal customs and
regulatory arrangements across different parts of the UK simply so the
EU can have the benefit of an open border with the UK.

It can't be long now before the government falls.

Bookies are quoting even odds for the date of the next general
election to be in 2018.

Wouldn't it be interesting if the LibDems did well by attracting the
anti-Brexit vote and the result was no party had overall control.

Even Iain Dale is beginning to suspect that the Government might fall -
but he still won't tolerate any suggestion that there might be a
re-think referendum.

I can't believe we will have a re-think of what was decided (although
it is faintly possibly) but instead one which determines the actual
terms of Brexit.

Now that we can see just how expensive a disaster Brexit might be, we
can mitigate the outcome by opting for a much softer Brexit.

Wouldn't it be better if the prods STFU and NI left the UK and became
part of Ireland once again?

Yes, then watch the terrorism commence. For once it would be on RoI
soil. It would be so ironic!
